IMM COLOGNE 2018
Back to 2017. We were at the Dubai fair. We were in London. The time has come for the great Cologne fair in 2018. When it comes to interior design, Milan, Cologne and Paris fairs set standards for the entire industry.
We presented our DESIGN DUE collection. Based on experiences with the previous events, we believed in success. After all, our collection passed hard exams, it was judged by professional designers. The verdict was always positive. Cologne was another success. This is, of course, what we believed in.
We were visited by several dozen representatives of companies from all over the world, although most of the visitors were from Germany. It is worth recalling an interesting meeting with a representative of Amazon who was truly interested in our furniture. We were moved by what he said about its workmanship. He stated that DUE furniture looked much better live than in pictures which was rather a sensation. As a manager of Amazon, he is certainly an expert in this field, in visualisation, in online product presentation, etc. Yes, it is true, we consider the workmanship of each piece of furniture as definitely more important than the pictures. After all, our clients buy real furniture, not its pictures. We passed on this information to our carpenters and contractors. They were moved that the representative of the world’s largest trading company appreciated its workmanship.
We were also encouraged by attracting media attention. I must admit that we were surprised at the same time. After all, our booth was visited by a media delegation of The Paddock – an exclusive motorisation magazine. Luxury cars, motorcycles, collector vehicles, F1, etc. Some part of it is devoted to living an elegant lifestyle. They interviewed us and published an article on DESIGN DUE in their magazine. Its digital issue is available at http://paddock-life.com/magazine/ (pages 131-132). DUE furniture basking in the glare of Ferrari and Aston Martin. However, does not our Die Korkenmaschine have anything in common with Ferrari? If you are already a Ferrari and helicopter owner, you should definitely own a wine tasting table.
The second day of the fair was marked by Polish television visiting us to record a feature. We were also visited by representatives of the European design blogosphere. We answered numerous questions, we accepted congratulations for our courage in designing. We were asked whether we were not behind in producing our furniture, taking into account favourable tendencies for furniture made of old wood, of recycled materials and, at the same time, being of progressive design. The question is encouraging as well. Of course, we are not behind in creating, since this term is a better choice than “production” and “producing”. It is not only about semantics. The act of creation is something else than prosaic production.
We were also visited by a representative of Wine Enthusiast, New York. Yes, the one working with the renowned Robert Parker. Their online store sells everything related to wine, starting with wine cellars in residences to a wine opener. Our sense of style and sales prices were appreciated by the U.S. visitor. We hope that we establish cooperation, and that DUE furniture reaches the U.S. market and perhaps the entire world.
We are going to the Stockholm fair in two weeks…
